What one should know about prevention
List of screening procedures paid for by the statutory health insurance in Germany
- Screening for cervical cancer in women from age 20 (yearly intervals)
- Breast examination for women from age 30 and up (yearly intervals)
- Mammography as for women from age 50 up to age 70 (every other year)
- Examination of prostate gland and the genitals plus lymph node status for men age 45 and higher (yearly intervals)
- Screening for colorectal cancer:
- Examination of colon and rectum (yearly), FOBT (yearly up to age 54) from age 50 on
- From age 55 on: Two complete colonoscopies within 10 years, FOBT every other year
- Screening for skin cancer from 35 Jahren on (every other year)
- Starting at age 35: Physical, lab tests for cholesterol and glucose, urinalysis (every other year)
