What one should know about prevention

List of  screening procedures paid for by the statutory health insurance in Germany

• Screening for cervical cancer in women from age 20 (yearly intervals)
  
• Breast examination for women from age 30 and up (yearly intervals)
• Mammography as for women from age 50 up to age 70 (every other year)
  
• Examination of prostate gland and the genitals plus lymph node status for men age 45 and higher (yearly intervals)
  
• Screening for colorectal cancer:
• Examination of colon and rectum (yearly), FOBT (yearly up to age 54) from age 50 on
  
• From age 55 on: Two complete colonoscopies within 10 years, FOBT every other year
  
• Screening for skin cancer from 35 Jahren on (every other year)
• Starting at age 35: Physical, lab tests for cholesterol and glucose, urinalysis (every other year)
